Marketing Podcast with Chris Guillebeau
Everyone today is talking about starting a business, but the fact is not everyone is suited to start, run and grow a business – not everyone is or needs to be a true entrepreneur.
But, everyone today needs a side hustle. Even if you love your job, there’s nothing financially riskier than blindly going to work and depending upon a paycheck.
There are entire industries and certainly entire departments and positions that will not exist in five years – replaced instead by robots and computers programmed to think and learn.
My guest for this week’s episode of the Duct Tape Marketing Podcast is Chris Guillebeau. Guillebeau is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author whose books include The Art of Non-Conformity and The $100 Startup. He is also the founder of the annual World Domination Summit. He and I talk about the need for a side hustle and how to get started.
Chris is hitting a market that no one else is serving – someone that may want to keep their job, but just might also like a little freedom and security that can come from an extra $734 dollars a month.
During a lifetime of self-employment, Guillebeau visited every country in the world (193 in total) before his 35th birthday. Since then he has modeled the proven definition of an entrepreneur: “Someone who will work 24 hours a day for themselves to avoid working one hour a day for someone else.”
Questions I ask Chris Guillebeau:
- What is the World Domination Summit?
- What is the Side Hustle School?
- Do people need to change their mindsets about the side hustle?
What you’ll learn if you give a listen:
- Why you need to have a side hustle
- How to create a new source of income without quitting your day job
- Why tactics, not strategy, are the future
