My guest for this week’s episode of the Duct Tape Marketing podcast is Chris Guillebeau.
Chris writes, travels, and helps people take over the world. His site hosts The Art of Non-Conformity blog and the diary of his travel adventures in 150 countries and counting.
The title of this post is a central theme that runs through his book The Art of Non-Conformity: Set Your Own Rules, Live the Life You Want, and Change the World – according to Chris you don’t have to live the life that other people expect you to.
Rather than change people’s thinking he is helping people give themselves permission to be who they want to be.
The big questions are – What do you want to do, what excites you, what bothers you about the world? The key is to look at what’s holding you back, what obstacles are stopping you from going out and creating a business?
In Chris’ view and my view, entrepreneurs are actually taking the safe path these days by choosing the path of starting a business. Ponder that one!
Many folks start a business because they need a job and only later come to the realization that there is a higher purpose in doing what drives them.
Chris undertook a 60 city and province tour to promote the book and is a brilliant example of how to build community and do what excites you.
